FAQs

We know you’ve got questions!
It’s important to be clear – we are not skincare or beauty experts.

Marrok was founded by an Australian woman looking for natural, simple, cruelty-free solutions to modern skin and body care which felt good.

So, with that in mind, here’s our answers to some of the most common questions.

What makes your brand and products special?
Our brand is dedicated to providing luxurious Moroccan beauty products inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Morocco.

Made from the finest ingredients, such as organic Argan Oil, known as the "Liquid Gold of Morocco” and Olive Oil, our products are carefully crafted to bring you the essence of Moroccan beauty traditions.

These are authentic products based on centuries-old traditions and skincare rituals, sourced and produced in Morocco.

Part of the frustration we found with modern body and skincare products was the difficulty of finding products which were cruelty-free and as natural as possible.

Are your products really natural and organic?
Here’s the facts:

Moroccan Black Soap is made with only three ingredients – olive oil, water and Potassium Hydroxide (used to make the paste-like soap).  For variants such as Eucalyptus, pure cold-pressed organic Eucalyptus oil is added.

Our Argan Oil has only one ingredient – pure, cold-pressed oil from the nuts of the Argan Tree.  For variants such as Eucalyptus, pure cold-pressed organic Eucalyptus oil is added.

The olive oil, argan oil and additional essential oil ingredients are all EU certified organic and are also pesticide free.

Our supplier in Morocco has EU certification for the products we distribute.

Are your products vegan?
Yes, all our products are vegan.

Are your products cruelty-free?

Yes, our products are cruelty-free.

The products do not contain or rely on any animal-derived ingredients and are not tested on animals.

That’s really important to us at Marrok.

What’s special about Moroccan Black Soap?
Moroccan black soap, also known as Savon Noir, Beldi Soap or pure olive oil soap, works due to its unique formulation and natural ingredients.

This soap has been an integral part of Moroccan beauty rituals for centuries and is still used today by Moroccan women and men.

The olive oil, drawn from crushed olives, deeply cleanses and detoxifies the skin without stripping it of natural oils.  It leaves the skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated.

Regular use can also benefit skin texture and help reduce the appearance of dark spots and blemishes.

The natural detoxifying properties help eliminate impurities and toxins, giving your skin a fresh and radiant look.

Black Soap is used in the legendary hammams of Morocco – both the local community hammams and the modern spa salons – as part of the ageless bathing experience.

The Black Soap prepares your skin to be exfoliated. It helps to lift dead skin and bind it so the scrub mitt works more effectively. Less red raw skin, more smooth glowing skin!

What is Argan Oil?
You’ve probably noticed Argan Oil as an ingredient in other products or offered as an anti-frizz hair treatment.

It is a highly effective skin and body oil.  A dry oil, it does not clog pores.

Argan Oil is rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids, which help to moisturise and protect your skin while also keeping nails strong and nail cuticles soft.

This oil is also known for its anti-aging properties and ability to reduce inflammation and improve skin elasticity.

You can use it on your face, body, ends of hair, nails and cuticles, dry heels and elbows and anywhere there’s a little dry skin to be moisturised.

Are your products suitable for all skin types?
Yes, our products are suitable for all skin types.

Whether you have dry, oily, or sensitive skin, our formulations are carefully crafted to provide effective and gentle care.

However, we always recommend doing a patch test before using any new product, especially if you have sensitive skin or known allergies.

How can I incorporate these products into my skincare routine?
Our products can be seamlessly integrated into your existing skincare routine.

For example, you can use our Argan Oil as a moisturiser by applying a few drops to your face and neck after cleansing. You can also use it as an oil base before you apply moisturiser.

It’s also a great body oil in warmer weather as it feels light on the skin.

Black Soap can be used as a gentle cleanser or as a body scrub – either wash daily with the soap or let it sit longer and rinse off before using the Marrok Mitt to exfoliate.

Are your products suitable for all skin types?
Both Moroccan Black Soap and Argan Oil are suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone skin.

This is a significant advantage over other products which may contain harsh ingredients that can cause irritation.

As with all products you haven’t used before, it’s a good idea to test first on a small patch of skin, especially if you have a history of sensitive reaction.  You know your skin best.

The Marrok Mitt has a rough surface to exfoliate dead skin. You can control the pressure you apply while scrubbing, so start with a light pressure and work your way up from there as you see how your skin reacts.

What if I don’t see any dead skin coming off when I scrub?
You may or may not see physical evidence of dead skin as your scrub with the Marrok Mitt.  However, it’s still working to remove dry, old skin to reveal a smoother you.

You may not see the dead skin if:
You use the scrub mitt on a regular basis
You use other exfoliants or scrub products
You use other scrub mitts, exfoliation towels or face cloths

Your skin will still feel fresh and smooth even if you can’t ‘see’ the dead skin coming off.

How long will my Marrok Mitt last?
Scrubbing means your mitt goes through some work!  Natural wear is to be expected and cleaning your mitt also takes some toll.  We suggest replacing your Marrok Mitt every few months or as you notice it getting worn.

    Is your packaging recyclable?
We’re always looking to make our products and packaging more sustainable and responsible, so it’s an ongoing journey for us.

At the moment, our products are packaged in recyclable plastic.  That means the plastic can be recycled, but as we all know, what our local waste and recycling collecting rules are can make it difficult to get various plastics to the right recycling channels.

We’re just starting out so this is our base point – we’re committed to doing more in this area, so please stick with us.

All the materials we use to get your order to you safely are either recyclable, made from recycled or compostable materials or are made for you to use in other ways. Even our mailing labels are compostable and thermal printed.
